VoiceNotes is designed with privacy as the foundation. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our voice recording and analysis application available on Android. Our core principle is simple: your data stays on your device.

1.1 Local Data Only

VoiceNotes is designed with privacy as the foundation. All your recordings, transcriptions, and analysis data are stored locally on your device using encrypted database storage.

1.2 No Personal Information Collected

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information, recording content, or usage data to our servers.

1.3 No Analytics or Tracking

The App does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or user tracking systems.

2. How We Use Information

2.1 Local Processing

All recording, storage, and organization occur entirely on your device.

2.2 No Server Communication

The App does not communicate with our servers or third-party services for core functionality.

2.3 AI Features (Optional)

The only external communication occurs when you explicitly choose to use AI features:

• Transcribe recordings
• Generate summaries and action items
• Chat with your notes

2.4 Data Flow for AI Features

1. Input: You record audio or select a recording
2. Transmission: Audio/text sent directly to Google Gemini API
3. Processing: Google Gemini processes the data
4. Return: Results returned directly to your device
5. Storage: Results stored locally on your device
6. No Intermediary: Data does NOT pass through our servers

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Encryption

Your recordings and data are stored in an encrypted database on your device using Android's built-in encryption capabilities and industry-standard security practices.

3.2 No Cloud Storage by Default

By default, your data never leaves your device.

3.3 Security Measures

• Database Encryption: All local data encrypted at rest
• Secure API Storage: Your API key is stored in Android Keystore
• Direct Connection: Direct connection to Google API without intermediaries

4. Google Gemini API Integration

4.1 Explicit Consent Required

AI features require your explicit consent and your own Google Gemini API key.

4.2 How It Works

1. User Choice: You provide your API key
2. Direct Interaction: App communicates directly with Google servers
3. Google's Privacy: Google's Privacy Policy applies to data sent to their API

4.3 Google's Privacy Policy

When using AI features, Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to data processed by their API. We recommend reviewing Google's privacy practices regarding the Gemini API.

5. Permissions Explained

5.1 Microphone Access

• Purpose: Record audio notes
• Data: Raw audio data
• Scope: Only when recording is active

5.2 Storage Access

• Purpose: Store recordings and export files
• Data: Audio files and database
• Scope: App-specific storage

5.3 Internet Access (Optional)

• Purpose: Communicate with Google Gemini API
• Data: Audio/text for processing
• Frequency: Only when AI features are triggered

6. Third-Party Services

6.1 Google Gemini API

• Purpose: Transcription and analysis
• Data Shared: Audio and text content (only when triggered)
• Control: You control your own API key

6.2 No Other Third Parties

We do not integrate with advertising networks, analytics services, or other third-party tracking services.

7. Children's Privacy

• Minimum Age: 13 years old
• Parental Supervision: Users under 18 should have parental guidance

7.2 COPPA Compliance

• No Data Collection: We don't collect data from users of any age

Your data remains on your device until you:

• Delete the App
• Delete individual recordings
